All-Hallows Ash-and-Bone

🕯️ All-Hallows Ash-and-Bone

ree

✨ The Season’s Theme

The season of Ash-and-Bone has returned — when fires smolder low, when bones sit upright in the cinders, and when travelers speak of shadows in the smoke. Villagers say only two shields protect against what lingers in the ash-fields: the Flame, or the Ash.

  • Those who carry a lantern’s light walk under the Eternal Flame’s watch.

  • Those without must paint themselves and their Capra companions in soot and bone-markings, disguising their warmth from the things that wander the smoke.

This season, Seekers are called to test their courage. Will you uncover relics buried in ash? Will you heed the warnings of Amor’s dispatch? Or will you step too far into the darkness, where bones whisper and ash breathes?

“Carry the Flame, or carry the Ash.Walk with one, or death will pass.”

Second ThemeThe Hollow-Flame Lanterns

(The lore of Kinward’s jack-o-lanterns)

Each Ash-and-Bone season, villagers carve faces into gourds and hollowed roots, placing candles within. These Hollow-Flame Lanterns are set on doorsteps, windowsills, and the edge of the village paths.

Tradition holds that when the candle inside is lit by a Wixxon’s flame, the lantern’s light takes on a sacred shimmer, able to ward away the ash-spirits that drift too close. Some say the carved faces confuse the spirits, others say the Flame’s blessing frightens them away.

No home dares go without a Hollow-Flame Lantern. To let your doorstep sit dark is to invite what lurks in the smoke inside.

🔮 Event Participation

  • Blessings & Rolls → Use your Root Tokens (or seasonal Ash Tokens) to roll for relics, journal fragments, charms, and creatures hidden in the ash.

  • Ashmarking Tradition → Each handler must mark their Capra in ash this season. Describe or draw the bone-paint patterns you and your companion wear.

  • Lore Unveiling → Burned journals and relics uncovered this season will reveal the truth behind the first Ash-and-Bone Fires.

🎭 Mini-Prompts (Spooky Season Writing/Art Hooks)

  1. Your seeker paints ash-marks onto their Capra. What pattern do they choose, and why?

  2. While carrying a lantern, your seeker notices the smoke curl into shapes — what do they see?

  3. One skeleton sits upright in the ash, as if still on watch. What relic does it guard?

  4. Your seeker stumbles into cold ash. What memory or vision do they experience when they touch it?

  5. A child paints your seeker with clumsy bone-marks. How does your seeker react to wearing them?

  6. The lantern flickers. For a moment, the flame dies. What does your seeker feel in the darkness before it relights?

  7. Your seeker carves their Hollow-Flame Lantern — what design do they choose? A grimace, a smile, or something sacred?

  8. A Wixxon lights your lantern. How does the flame look different once blessed?

  9. Your seeker walks past the village edge, where dozens of Hollow-Flame Lanterns line the path. What do they feel seeing all the faces burning together?

  10. Your seeker forgets to light their lantern one night. What happens?

  11. Children dare each other to carry lanterns deeper into the ash-fields — does your seeker join them or scold them?

  • Frosted Ash Shard – ash that burns cold instead of hot. A dangerous keepsake.

  • Bone-Flame Token – a token exchanged for a special seasonal blessing.

  • Hollow-Flame Lantern – a carved gourd with Wixxon-blessed flame. Keeps ash-spirits from crossing thresholds.

  • Ash-Gourd Seeds – once planted, these gourds grow with natural hollow veins, perfect for lantern carving.

🐐 The Ashmarking Rite

Don’t forget: ashmarking your Capra and companions is tradition — and survival. To go without is to risk being taken by what stirs in the ashlands. Share your designs, be they playful bone-smears or intricate ceremonial robes, and keep the Flame burning bright this season.

Let the wild flame guide you. May your steps leave sparks in the moss.
